Privacy

Short version · full text with the app launch
In short

You create an account with your email - no password, a 6-digit code arrives by email. No ads and no tracking tools. Your GPS trace stays on your phone - only what the account, friends and your ride overview need goes to our server (the list is below). We do not sell data.

The full privacy policy, naming every service the app uses, is published with the app launch.

Your account and what is on the server

The database server is Supabase. It holds:

You delete the account and everything tied to it in Me → Delete account; deletion is immediate and permanent.

Place search (Google Maps)

When you search for venues, addresses and places in the "Where to" field, the search is done by Google Maps. Google then receives what you type, an approximate area around you (so nearer places come first) and your IP address. That part of the app is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

We do not store the place name Google returns: history and the ride diary get the name from OpenStreetMap, and the place's point is kept for at most 30 days. When Google search is not available, our own search (OpenStreetMap) is used.

Traffic (TomTom)

To show traffic on the map and check for jams on your route, TomTom receives: the part of the map you are looking at (while the "Live traffic" layer is on), the points of the route for the hour of riding ahead of you, and your IP address. When you plan a route for now, that is the first hour of the route - and a route often starts at home. While you ride along a route, the check repeats about every 5 minutes from where you are, so TomTom then also receives the point where you are at that moment. When the jam is large, the router receives the point it works out the detour from: a point on the route up to 4 km before the jam, or your own point when the jam is closer than that. The route check runs even when the layer is off. We do not send it your name, email or account. You can turn the layer off in Layers. TomTom's privacy policy also applies.

Perks (partner discounts)

The Community tab lists partner discounts (roadside assistance, eSIM, insurance, gear). We only count how many times a partner's offer is opened and how many times its button is tapped, as a daily total. The counter stores nothing about your device, your account or your IP address, so nobody can see who opened what. We send partners nothing about you; the link to their website only carries a tag saying you came from RouteMeRight. Once you open a partner's website or call them, their privacy policy applies.

The waiting list on the website

If you leave your email so we can tell you when the app launches, that email (and your bike model, if you enter it yourself) is received by the form service Formspree and forwarded to us. The list serves one message - that the app is out - and nothing else. The address is kept until we send that message or until you ask for deletion at info@routemeright.app.

Contact

For all questions and requests about data - access to what is tied to your account, or its deletion: info@routemeright.app. You can also delete the account yourself in the Me tab.

Updated 14 Oct 2026: traffic (TomTom) and the traffic check while riding added. Earlier, 10 Oct 2026: account, friends, location for friends, ride summaries on the server and place search via Google Maps added.
